ARTIST BIO

Helen was born in Melbourne, Australia

At a young age Helen developed a connection and fondness for animals and loved to ridehorses. She also became passionate about painting and listening to music.

After finishing school, Helen worked in the sales industary, however her compassion forpeople was too compelling. She went on to study health and worked in aged care and disabitity care.

Later, she was also introduced into the healing benifits of 'singing bowls',which she continues to use on people who are looking for a unique form of relaxation.

During all of the above endeavours,Helen married and had a family to take care of,however she never gave up on her desire to paint!

Later in life she took up restoring old furniture and took great joy in the creativity of bringing back to life an old piece of furniture and making it new again.

However,it was only in the last 10 years when she began reigniting her artist talent.

Helen enrolled in various art classes on the Moronington Peninsula. Here she studied alongside art teachers with different styles. Through these lessons Helen refined her skills and techniques that she applies today.

Helen has been inspired by artists such as Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso to name a few. She is also inspired by Greek art, architecture and churches.

Helen also loves to travel and has traveled to Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Singapore and is looking forward to painting in Rome and Greece, where she feels strong connection with the people, religion and arts.

The mediums that Helen uses are Pastel, charcol and acrylic on paper or canvas. Her style has devoloped over the years from abstract to impressionist style animals, however recently she is drawn to painting more religious based artworks which 'call out' to her in the early hours of the moroning, when much of her inspiration and ideas begin to flow.

Helen says... "Painting is self expression coming straight from the soul", which seems to sum up the 'soulful' artist.
