ARTIST BIO

Carl Sagan once said, "Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere." As a passionate artist I couldn't agree more.  I love being led by my intuition and imagination and as a result I love what I can achieve.

I was born, raised and currently live in Sydney, Australia and believe that I have been a hunter, gatherer, recycler and maker for most of my life.  As a child I was making paper mosaic artworks from old magazines and newspapers and jewellery from discarded plastics and food packaging. I've always had a fascination for texture within art and a love for experimentation and being creative.

After a 15 year stint in the corporate world within the Music & Entertainment Industries, I had an inner yearning to follow my heart and passion for the arts and design and briefly studied Interior Design, followed by Visual and Fine Arts, majoring in Photography.

From 1990 to 2010, I was compelled to seek out items which were broken, discarded and of no use, such as broken tiles, crockery, furniture and kitchen appliances so that I could create mosaic objet d'art.  I was also producing textile wall hangings from second hand fabric remnants, fringes, buttons and embellishments. I can remember being on an absolute high trying to create something beautiful out of nothing and injecting life into defunct items begging for another chance at life.

During this period I was captivated by B&W photography and adored creating photograms. And I cherished the days when I was in a print studio churning out screen prints and marvelling at the spontaneity of monoprinting.

When I moved to Berlin in 2010 to a small apartment, I started to produce mixed media artworks combining photography + collage + digital technology which still holds great appeal to me today.

Even though most of my works have a photographic foundation, I find that I don't control what I create, nor do I have a vision at the outset of what the work will become. The work guides me and lets me know when it is complete.  I treat my artworks as living entities.  I fondly feed and nourish them with love and patiently watch them grow and blossom until they become independent.

Overall, creating art encourages me to adapt to change so that I can reinvent myself; it challenges my perspectives and allows me to work through my emotions. It brings about tranquility and solace in my life and ensures that I live in the moment.

My works are held in private collections in Australia, USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Scotland.
